Character Description (Further):
Vallen has cinnamon-colored skin with a lean and lithe, yet well muscled, build. He has dark-brown eyes and hair, which is pulled into a low, small ponytail. Due to a close encounter during an attempted theft on his part, he has a pink scar over his right eye, which doesn’t affect his sight in that eye too much. As a thief, and leaving behind the clothes when he lived with his family, Vallen wears nomadic-like clothing. This is seen by his black, leather guards for when he wields his bow, his mix of white, red, and black clothes that make up a cover over his chest and as pants, but also his boots and belt which holds the silver handles of a pair of long knives on either side of him.
Character Bio:
(Sorry for the long bio below. There was a lot of info that led up to where Vallen is currently in Atlas and I didn’t want to exclude the info because all of it is, in one way or another, important).
Vallen Thornwood was born to unknown parents in a village in the Dominion of Malin. Being in the slums of his hometown, Leluin, due to being abandoned by his parents, Vallen found himself with no money and no one to rely on, barely knowing any relatives at first. So, Vallen, needing money and searching for a way to survive, looked to thievery. It wasn’t his first choice, but, Vallen had no skills for any craft, and looked like the rest of the slum-dwellers – shaggy and dirty clothes with knit patches. At first, his efforts were futile, and he usually had to make quick escape resulting in a lot of time leaving and or forgetting his items. Until Vallen learned of his uncle Amathias.
Amathias ended up discovering Vallen after he tried to steal from his building on the outskirts of the village. After requesting the boy’s name, they both realized they were related. Due to this, Vallen earned his stay and made home with Amathias, who acted more like a father figure than an uncle. Amathias told Vallen about his parents, who were revealed to be of the names Ezrele, his mother, and Alvar, his father. Amathias explained that, due to not having any money to help sustain their family, they decided to leave Vallen on his own, and since left the village in pursuit of jobs and possible money, as far as he knew.
Knowing Vallen had no skills whatsoever, Amathias decided to train the boy. Amathias being the local craftsman for the village taught Vallen how to make a bow, as well as makeshift tools if need be. He fed and clothed Vallen, and taught and educated Vallen the best he could on the village, about Atlas, and more. He also taught Vallen how to throw knives, defend himself, and trained him in archery. In teaching Vallen himself, he requested Vallen leave his ways of stealing, and Vallen, for the most part, did so. Until, eventually, when Vallen turned 52, he decided to leave the village in the pursuit of more, much like his parents, and possibly even magic.
Now on his own, Vallen has indeed fallen back to thievery, but because he saw it as a way to practice his stealth and it helped gain him coins. Knowing little about it in his early years, he was much better this time around. He perfected his sneaking and stealth and soon became a skilled thief, and now, at 62 walks across the lands of Atlas hoping for a new future and hopefully further information on his parents, and in the pursuit of new ways, such as magic.
