In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: I provide my characters moral codes, and specialize in specific areas such as smithing or lorekeeping. I want to connect and engage with other people where they are at and coming from, rather than feeling a need to "beat" other characters.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: not only does it disrupt roleplay by providing the player an unfair edge, it also draws away from the fun of roleplay. For example, I could know the (vanilla) potion recipes by heart and beeline to making the strongest potions, but I would rather experience the character's journey of learning and growing rather than trying to win.

Character Name: Shoshana Copperfeather
Character Race: Forest Dwarf
Character Gender: Female
Character Age: 29
Physical Description: Copper-Auburn curled hair, brown eyes, quite tall for a Forest Dwarf, wears simple but well made cotton clothing.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

Example: "I-" stutters Shana, caught off guard by the hag's familiarity but quickly regaining her composure and sitting down, she continues, "I suppose. My name is Shoshana Copperfeather, though I suspect you know this too. I've wandered long, leaving home merely a fledgling, and my quest yet continues. See, since I was in the cradle, the song of birds roused me into fits of excitement. My mother, Aeshel, shared this love, and told me many a time in my youth of the crying swarms of Phoenixes as they dove amidst the cliffs. Such is my quest, to find these glorious birds and to earn their respect, that one may accompany me home to my ailing mother. I have passed through many a realm, from the wild underbrush of Atlas, and even dwelled a city or two when the need arose to replenish my coinpurse. Beside my quest for that firey avian, I am trained as a metalsmith, as the family name suggests. I work in soft, non-ferrous metals, and create cookery, fittings, and allsorts. I've even made a blade or two in my time. I have come to this town in hopes of peddling my wares, small as it may be. I would travel onward to the next city, but once again the ravenous dragon in my pocket calls for more gold."
