As Mackenzie stepped off the boat his sense would be awash as he struggled to take in all the laid before him. As he tilted his head admiring the sprawling city before him he would pause to think for a few moments of the journey that had brought him here from the simple countryside. His thoughts of the past interrupted as a man approached from the crowd calling out to Mackenzie in a foreigen accent that he had never heard before. “Ye’ don’ look like ye’ from around these parts. What brings you to the city of Providence?” said the man. As Mackenzie struggled to overhear him in the dim and clamor of the crowd he’d pause before responding with a soft laugh in his voice. He hadn’t thought he stuck out that much. “Work.. a mans always looking to earn some coin in this modern times.” he’d respond initially contemplating if he should add more before counting on either way. “Niet much left at home for me either way. My women left to be off with another man who held a larger farm.” As he responded the stranger would chuckle at his words, before giving him a hearty slap on the back and bellowing out “Well’v lad! I’v got work for ye’ an’ with coin a plenty ye’ won’ be hurtin’ for no cold bed. In thy’ meantime ye’ look like you could use a warm meal, a drink and an even warmer bed”. Reassured at the man's words, he considered his offer for a mere moment before clasping his arm around the stranger. “Lead on then!” he bellowed out in laughter following him as he led on. For what is life by a twist of fate and wonder he thought to himself as he followed him along, an unknown path but a new one.
