Unlike his ancestors, Ianatan was born in a period of relative peace and quiet, the decades of turmoil and bloodshed which had preceded it only known to him through the stories of his father and uncle. The Coalition War had instilled a grim outlook in the two, who imposed their fear of another continental conflict on a young Ianatan. Attempts to force the young elf onto a martial path all but failed, his father at least able to coerce him to learn the bow, but never enlist with Malin's army.
Further disagreements with his family lead to Ianatan joining a caravan just before his twentieth year. Since then, Ianatan has continued to travel as he works, lending himself as a short-term hire to whatever establishment will take him. Life is mundane but peaceful, and with each new trip, Ianatan feels his sense of freedom embolden. However, as much as he enjoys the wanderlust, Ianatan can't help but feel the nagging desire to do something more with his life.
