Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Illera slowly steps forward and sits down, her gaze seeming to linger on the old hag. She takes her time, playing with her hair and seemingly chewing on her words. Finally, she folds her hands neatly in her lap, takes a drawn out breath, and begins:
"I don’t remember my parents", she starts “I was found as a child, but... no one knows how I got there. The High Elves took me in. My parents raised me as one of their own, and for all my life, I’ve called them family. I don't even remember my life before them. Even my name is that of the High Elves!" She let out a wet chuckle before continuing "But... I don't belogn. I mean- it's kind of obvious. I visibly don't belong. And growing up, many made sure I knew that. I could be a high elf mind and soul, but it wouldn't matter. But I suppose I'm not exactly a real dark elf either. And... I knpw my parents tried in their own way to teach me of my heritage: the history, some of the traditions. But it never really mattered to me when I was younger. I was content with my little life."
She pauses, smiling bittersweetly as something flashes across her face. "But now, it pains me. I don't know where I came from. I don't know who I am, and I can't ignore it anymore. I love my home. And I love my family. But I want to understand my roots. I want to know where I came from, even if that means stepping out of the life I know, for however long it takes."
Illera locks eyes with the hag before continuing: "I came here looking for answers... answers that only someone like you can give. So please, help me find what I'm looking for."
