Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Heldun pauses, confusion flashing briefly over his face, before sitting down.
"Expectin' me?" The young cave dwarf's accent is thick. "This is my first time above ground. Not sure how anyone would've known I was comin'." Heldun leans back, appreciating the comfort of the couch. "But I s'pose you don't see a lot of dwarves around these parts. Back home, I was a miner, worked mostly with explosives. Loved the work, still do. I always say there's nothing a bit of gunpowder and fire can't fix." A slight smile dances across Heldun's lips without quite reaching his eyes.
"'Course, that was all 'fore the accident happened." He lifts his left arm to eye-level. A large area of pink tissue is starkly visible against the cave dwarf's gray complexion. He squeezes the fingers of his left hand slightly, wincing and dropping his arm before reaching a closed fist. "They wouldn't let me work with explosives after that day. Tried having me mine or forge but I was never any good at it." Heldun shifts his gaze to the floor. "I came up here hopin' I could find something I was good at, I s'pose. Didn't even tell anybody."
