Born in the Raevir, Valter grew up with little social standing. He grew up learning quickly about futility and how small he was in the world as a whole, and as such he absolutely hated anyone in power due to his own lack of it. They did not care about anything other than rising up in the world to one day to rise above everybody else. The most obvious answer to solve this was money, with enough of it you could potentially do anything. But he also hated working, it took to long and its rewards were not nearly as fulfilling as taking another. So he simply steals and sells in hopes of purchasing or ruling his own land one day.
As a side note: He also sees no problem with stealing, he feels that everyone in power is a thief, stealing from the underclassmen. And that him stealing from underclassmen as well somehow justifies his actions. He is not the brightest when it comes to any sort of morality. And the armor in the skin is not anything practical, it is just rusty and basically useless for protection. Mainly just not to seem too shady
