From the great family name of McChopin I Henry Mchopin  am embarking the great land of Atlis seeking riches and brotherhood. I will install fear in my enemy's soul with my battle cry and fight with all my heart for my banner lords. With being a skilled farmer I will be a worthy asset to my fellow brothers. My friend and commander Reggie has asked me to come with him to the County of Aldenburg. A land that will soon be filled with wheat, wine, and... Women. *shivers in fear*.

 

Henry McChopin was born from a small Highlander family that has followed Norlander customs for generations. This changed when his friend Reggie was cast out from Norland, and now he seeks a new home. He was born with an axe in his hand, and a hoe in his field. Maintaining his lands has been all he has known. Ever since he was a wee lad, he practiced a routine of brutal hand to hand combat in the case of invasion. His brutal nature has led to an insatiable bloodlust while in the face of battle. This means his ability to protect his friends is small, but his desire for revenge is great. He hopes to settle down and start a family, but first he must conquer his fear of the fairer sex.

Roleplay Scenario: The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

Power-gaming: A player is making their character stronger in certain aspects. Such as stronger than an orc as a human, smarter than a wizard as an orc. They intentionally make their character as powerful as possible and ruin the fun of RP.

 

example: My nice human self is walking in the woods. I suddenly am set upon by a ferocious man-eating halfling. The halfing tackles me, so I attempt to throw him off of me. Suddenly the halfling tells me that I can't do that because he has latched onto me. So I attempt to slam him into a tree. But wait! He somehow doesn't suffer a pint of damage and still hangs onto me. He then proceeds to start "choking" me. So naturally I would pry at his arms, but he says he is super strong for a halfling and that wouldn't work.

 

This is an extremely unlikely scenario that shows a compulsive power-gaming behavior, also known as CPG. It is a common problem amongst newer RPers, or to those who don't intend to RP in the first place.
