Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
She looks confused, but goes along with it, sitting on the cushion.
"My.. Name is Lycoris Avanine"
She pauses for a moment
"I was raised by a forest dwarf who had found me at the bed of a river. I was crying in my lifeless mother's arms, Abden, the dwarf, my father, had just buried his son when he found my mother and me; whether my mother tried to protect me or kill us both, he was not sure. As a Dwarf, he wasn't sure how to raise a halfling, or even if he could, especially so after the loss of his only son. Taking me in, he decided to name me Lycoris,"
A slight smile appears on her face
"After all, Spider lilies are what he planted on my mother's grave. He was nice enough to give me his last name too, Avanine. Though I am a halfling, I had no issues being raised by a dwarf, as my father's fishing and farming habits had helped raise me."
Her smile falls as she raises her hand to her neck, caressing it gently
"When I was 11, I was in an accident that almost cost me my life... Growing up in the forest had its ups and downs I guess... A Greymane Boar had attacked me; the attack had left a scar on my neck, which I tend to cover with a ribbon."
She sighs as she continues, swiftly moving on.
"As my father aged, I knew it was almost his time when I was around 18. My father was a lively soul; yet when he passed, it was quiet. I don't speak much anymore; conversation seems useless now that father isn't around. Though I consider myself a gentle soul, I tend to get pretty excited when I see others. I still live on my own and only go into town for supplies that I cannot acquire on my own."
