Ernst lifted a large hand to his face, hands which he could never truly clean and were caked in black soot and rough with callouses, scratching at the beard he never could manage to be free of since he was on his 14th year. Soft blue eyes looked at the fellow and narrowed, blinking twice as something came off and into one eye. "Phmph.." he exhaled with bemusement, tilting his head as the question fully registered and answering in a slow basso, "'M not much of the sort for grand aspirations; wealth 'll taste all the same as poverty once you've 'ad it long enough." He rubbed at his eye with a sooty hand, the thing seeming to still disturb him. He ran his tongue over his teeth as he did so and seemed to pick at some bit of grit, delaying the interaction further. Once certainly satisfied with the restored clarity of his eye, the skin around it now just as black as his hands and giving him an odd look, he simply shook his head. "Nothing 'f that, not looking ter buy nothing of it neither if you're sellin'. If ye got a bulk 'erb trader around these parts then send me at 'm. Season for grubs, been told by some ginger **** with strippy pants coming through that they don't like lavender much. They been chewing up all the barley lately.." He said with a mounting agitation, already getting a sense this trader, conman, burglar, or all three was just wasting his time...

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is the use of external knowledge your character would not otherwise have in a roleplay scenario. This might be the abuse of lore details, positional details of a character using the tag, or even use of real world knowledge such as the use of alcohol on wounds to destroy bacteria. All this and more would constitute as "meta".
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is the abuse of the mutual trust inherent in rp to garner some unfair, unrealistic advantage over others. Having a character who possesses no negative qualities for example would be powergaming. Further, breaking the logic of combat is powergaming. If an axe is speeding toward your neck and is only a foot away you're not just unlikely to completely dodge that, it's almost positively impossible for you to do so. The case result in that case is perhaps to have a twitch reaction and swing yourself away, taking the wound in a potentially less vital spot but receiving harm regardless.
