    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: using assets (mainly information) which aren't given to you by the game as it is played. One such case would be when the game has a player-character (which the player controls) who was never given any information about a particular monster but the player
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Performing actions which are unrealistic for a character to do. For example when an out-of-shape character with no training suddenly is able to wield a sword like a master

Born in Kal'Azgaryum to the Ireheart clan. His family was well-off, his father was a  trader. His parents afforded him a good education (both martial and classical). At the age of 16 he started to work with his father, learning the family trade. When he was 14 he went to the local tavern with his best friend Ilral for a few drinks, at the time he didn’t think much of it, but since that day he feels an urge to drink if he hasn't quench his thirst in a while. It only became apparent to him that he had a problem when he started to miss his shifts when working with his father. However, he didn’t change his habits fast enough, and at 19 he father banished him from his home. As an ambitious person he realized that his drinking problem was holding him back from his goals, hence, he has managed to contain his drinking, but he is always at the verge of succumbing to he urge of one more drink.

 

Since he was kicked out he has used his knowledge of trading to made a living as a trader, and once used his martial education to work as a mercenary for a few months. His dreams of becoming a wealthy trader with a trade empire behind him.

Roleplay Scenario: The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
