Romochko Yaga was born in the Markev, capital city of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska. He was born to two Highlander parents: Victor and Nastya Yaga. His father, Victor, was a baker in the village who provided fresh breads and pastries for the more poverty-stricken folk. He was a simpler man, yet a very religious one; he attended Markev’s church whenever it was in session, and forced his family to come with him. However, Nastya, Romochko’s mother, was a witch who practiced dark magicks with a small coven on the extremities of the farmland that surrounded the city. She began bringing Romochko to all of the coven’s meetings. At the age of thirteen, Romochko was inducted into the coven by its Grand Matriarch and Patriarch as its first non-magical member.
Outside of the coven, Romochko was a happy youth. He roamed the streets of Markev with his friends, discovered his interest in men, and worked at the bakery with his father. He spent the majority of his teen years studying sword-fighting, literature, and learned a few sinful skills such as pick-pocketing and how to slit 250-pound man’s throat in his sleep, undetected. Romochko became very dedicated to his mother’s coven. He lured men into their rituals through promiscuity, stole ingredients for their potions, and assassinated vendors who wronged any of the members.
However, on his nineteenth birthday, Romochko’s father discovered the secret coven that he and his mother were part of, for an incarcerated witch, who faced execution shortly after, gave up Romochko’s mother. News spread, and it eventually came to his father. That night, Romochko’s father had drug both him and his mother to the farthest end of the farmlands and burned his mother at the stake, forcing Romochko to watch. Shortly after, his father dragged him home and locked him in a broom closet while he went to fetch the authorities.
Romochko picked the lock , and then set the house ablaze with a match and lamp oil. He then ran off into the night, fleeing far away from the city.
