Left on the steps of a Canonist orphanage within the Orenian empire's borders, Marie has never known her parents and suspects they are deceased. Growing up, she was always the most mature child in the orphanage, always taking over chores and cooking. Soon she began to teach children how to read and write, and copying holy books down. But after some time, on the eve of her 20th birthday, she accidentally drank a cup of ale. She immediately knew she messed up, and she needed to repent.
Sister Marie believes she is a woman of many sins now. She took a pilgrimage away from the Canonist Church for her countless sins in order to find her true self. She wanders city to city trying to find people to help, and to relieve her from the burden of her sins. Every day, Marie prostrates herself for an hour and prays to her God. Even though she thinks she's a terrible woman, she is actually kind and self-sacrificing.
