He was born to a relatively lower rank of family, a family with no coin to there name. But it was through his family did he find his connection to the faith of Canon. It would be at this moment, at a tender age where his devotion would bloom. In his early years he was a devoted man of the faith, a young boy who planned his future on becoming a monk in service of the faith. However these things never came to pass. At seventeen years of age he would be conscripted into the Orenian military, a service he would be apart of for the next three years where his devotion would enter its most extreme state. Fighting with sword in hand and a book of the faith in the other, his zealous lunacy would become all to hard upon his superior where he would relinquish his duties as a footman. Unfortunately, however, his devotion to the spread of the faith across the land had already become far beyond and returning to his old life of a monk was impossible. Taking up the sword once more, he would roam the land as a speaker, spreading word until after many years of being absent he would return back to the Empire, hearing the whispers of his parents demise. Upon his return he was no longer the extremist that he was yet still his devotion was all the same, a devotion which he had attached himself to fervently.
Gilles steps off the boat with heavy feet, still fashioned in his suit of armour that he had taken off only when resting.
“Welcome! What brings you to this lovely city? Adventure? Wealth? Or some grand aspirations to elevate your place in society?”
He would stop at the feet of the gentleman, eyeing him down slightly before unrolling a scripture from his belt.
"I bring forth the message of god to you fools who do not bow. I shall rend unto you the name of god and the faith of Canon to which you will eagerly serve!"
The gentleman would smile awkwardly before watching as Gilles passed him by, his armour rattling all the while disappearing into the crowd, only the echo of his voice heard chanting the same phrase over and over.
"Bend thyself to god! And you shall once more be clean!"
