Born to a simple Raevir farming family, at aged 13 Ragnar was sent alone into the harsh southern wilderness to complete his trial of manhood. Equipped with only a knife, Flint and steel and the furs upon his back, the young man could not return until he had proved himself. For 9 days and 9 nights Ragnar braved the bitter cold and harsh conditions surviving on salmon caught with his frozen hands he was all but dead until a giant bear wandered into view. All around him the howl of wolves erupted and it was at this point that the young man knew that this was the test sent by his ancestors. Seizing a torch and his knife the young boy set about the beast, back and forth the battle waged, until the great bear caught Ragnar with a vicious blow to his left side knocking the youth down and gauging deeply his arm and chest. The bear sensing victory, reared up to deliver the killing blow but the boy was ready. Thrusting with his knife, Ragnar plunged the blade deep into the chest of his adversary, straight into the heart of this giant. The bear fell dead. Returning to his family (a white pelt across his shoulders), the young man was hailed as a hero. For over 30 years stories were told of Ragnar and the bear. Ragnar stayed with his village, always with one eye towards the mountains. Then one night the call of the wolves was heard again and the simple farmer once again knew that a time had come for him to seek a new trial. Setting off once again with only the clothes on his back, Ragnar now wanders the world seeking new adventures and stories to tell....
