Your character has just arrived in a bustling city in the south. As they look around, their gaze is met with large neighborhoods and massive monuments. It smells of fresh bread and fresh water. They step into a large pub, illuminated by a series of candles, lamps, and natural light. At the bar, a 1 eyed bartender raises his head, “What brings a northerner to this southern cirt?
I stop in fear, but loosen up seeing that it's just the bartender
"I am here for a good drink after a long journey" while I do a half laugh half sigh of relif
Bartender: "take a seat! have a pint and tell me about your tales"
the bartender gives me a pint of beer, and I sit down and begin to tell
"I was a simple peasant working on my fields supporting my family and such, you know like common folk. So, it was a simple evening I came home from work to my small family, mother, father, and brother. I greeted them, ate, and went to sleep to prepare for the next day's work. That night I wake to an inferno a burning inferno; bandits had attacked and slaughtered many. I jumped out of my bed and then suddenly the building collapses due to the fire. I ran as far as I could without being seen, and found a pile of manure and dirt, that I dove into and hide until I could no longer hear anyone. I ended up digging my way out and ran to my house. It was all gone. All of my family and valuables. I proceeded to look for tools and survivors but could not find much except an axe and some small knifes. I ended up staying for a couple of weeks living off the remnants of the food stores. But alas the food ran out and winter was setting in, so I moved along the main road form our town. Further and further south I traveled looking for food in the wild and relying on the kindness of strangers. I picked up some blankets and small coins along the road, and joined a small travel group aiming to come to this city, as we heard it tends to be quite warm here and that there are jobs, we can take. It is a long tale, but I hope the worst of it is behind."
