In a small camp Grilk’s mother, Tress, died while giving birth to him. He grew up under his father, who was a great tinkerer. Grilk had trouble tinkering when he was young but, his father was a great teacher so he learned quickly. When Grilk was sixteen, his father died while making a dagger for his son in a fire accident that burned down their entire home. After the incident, everyone in the camp attended his father’s funeral, who was buried right next to his mother. Grilk was in despair and stood by his mother and fathers graves for an entire day. On his way back home he saw the dagger that his father was making, and decided to finish it. After he finished it, he decided to travel to Krugmar where we would begin his new life.

They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
