Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"Well it seems you might already know me," she sighs and sits down at the cushion, "I'm just a wanderer, nothing much..." She looks at the old hag tilting her head. "And story? Nothing to interesting, grew up as a runt. Stole money from the wrong person... or the right, still not sure with that one. And now I'm trying to find my own path."
Backstory
Thalia can barely remember her parents’ faces. Her last memories of your family were of going on a trip into town to sell excess harvest and your family abandoned you in town.
She has been scraped by on the streets just fine without them, anyway, with her quick wits and sticky fingers. Little did she know that her latest mark would change her life. She saw a man in fancy robes with a fancy satchel. It was time for the usual. Yet when she reached inside the satchel she felt a cold nothingness. Bewildered, her mind wandered to what kind of priceless item such a bag could contain. Suddenly, her fingers wrapped around the spine of a book. Later, after escaping with her prize, she found that the book has all kinds of magic words and symbols.
Then she got snapped back to reality by the man taking a hold on her arm and the book. They make eye contact and the man notices something within Thalia, a potential of a mage. Regor Paellind, a Elven wizard who has always seemed either aloof or incredibly crafty and whom you never fully understood. So he made a deal with her to become an apprentice and share her discoveries during her discoveries and journey.
