You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"You've been expecting me?" Saven asks a little confused, however he does what she asks and sits down in front of her. "Well uh you see I haven't really been out in the world too much, I had kind of a sheltered life growing up with parents. And they recently well.. passed, not from old age but um.. from my dad trying to stop someone from attacking us and him, my mom, and the attack all kind of killed each other. But after that I figured it was high time to get out there, see the world you know?" he fiddled with his hair as he spoke. "I wanna learn all I can, find a nice place to settle down and maybe join an army or guard of some kind, I'm not the best with hand to hand but I can shoot a bow and I'm sure I could learn! I wanna be like my father, as mysterious of a man as he was, he was a good man and behind the strange wooden mask he always kept either on or by his side was compassion and a willing to help others and I wanna be like him.

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: In order to avoid powergaming you should emote that your character is "trying" or "attempting" to do something rather than just doing it, you should also take in account your characters physical well being which includes their age and strength but also whether or not they have an injury that would restrict movement.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: A lot of what makes fantasy worlds interesting is betrayal, secrets, mysteries and finding out all of these things. It's not interesting to just be told that there's a raid or giant monster or group conspiring against someone, its interesting to find that stuff out yourself and uncover the mysteries in real time. And imagine if a character plans to kill yours rather than them dramatically striking while your vulnerable or out with your group of friends you just go over to their home and try to kill them there away from public view. Making it so less people can interact with the fight or watch it happen or report on it in a newspaper or hearsay or a book.
