Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Klaus slowly reclines and responds lazily , "I've spent all my life tricking and fooling the senses. I am called a thief, a charlatan. I'm teaching the fools I trick to do better. I had no other choice. I had to survive.” He gazes at the floating candles and says, "Nice bit of wire, huh? I use the same trick myself." He gazes at the crone, waiting for her reaction. This is what he does, pokes at people, getting them to react. He thinks, you can learn a lot about someone based on how they react to insults. That he learned in the slums he grew up in. Born an orphan, he learned to steal from an early age. He had to. Eventually, he began to follow the street magicians around. He learned card tricks, and sleight of hand. He learned basic tricks and mastered them in the slums. One local legend claimed he could charm the spots off a horse. He learned to trick people’s senses, influence them. He became charismatic and an expert gambler. He smiles like a cat, his teeth flashing in the flickering candle light.
