Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

She takes a quick breath, her eyes dart around the room to check for spectators before they land on the woman.
“Well…"
She takes a deep breath.
"I come from a family of deeply devout priests and clerics. My mother died when I was very young…”
She shrinks in her seat.
“My father remarried very quickly, to a… horrible woman."
She hides her face in her hands.
“She hated me from the moment she met me. She was very strict, when I did even the smallest things wrong. she would take up the cane… the scars will never heal. But I had the strength to leave."
She looks up, face soft and open.
"Sometimes you have to leave to heal.. love isn't always enough and that's okay.”
