Amelia was born to her highlander mother in the Kingdom of Haense. She never met her father, but her mother told her she met him while lost in the icy north. They settled down together in Haense, where she was eventually born by the grace of Wyvurn. Her parents never expected to have children, but her mother was overjoyed nonetheless. Times got tough however when that winter came around. The temperature was colder than anticipated and many paths the merchants took the the city were blocked by snow. As a last ditch effort to provide for his family, Amelias father went out to try and hunt what food he could. He was stalking after a deer when he took a wrong step and his leg and got lodged in a rock crevice. By the time the search party got to him the next day, he was half frozen and sepsis from a cut on his leg had set in. He passed a few days later.
Amelia's mother never was the same after that. She loved Amelia to the best of her abilities but she found it hard to make ends meet. She decided to relocate amelia and herself to Oren, where there was more money to be made. She worked as a tavern maiden throughout Amelia's early life, but still had a very hard time making ends meet. Amelia often went hungry if the tips from the tavern werent good enough. Due to this, Amelia started stealing small items of food from carts on the street. Only when she was hungry at first, but soon it developed into a purse here, a pocket watch there. Her peers started to bully her when she would get caught, and shame her with crude remarks about her backround and appearance. At the age of 12, she had enough of their remarks and decided to fight back. After several tussles with the bullies, they stopped bothering her but still spread rumors around town.
She was always ashamed of herself for her habit and hated the traits she inherited from her father. She kept the thefts from her mother as she was ashamed, but her mother was furious when she found out when Amelia was 17. Her mother felt like a failure and drank herself to near death before amelia used the stolen money to buy her mother a small house back in Haense, the city she had the fondest memories of. She sent her mother back to Haense and forced her to retire, saying she would provide from now on, and that her mother should live out the rest of her years in peace for once. Amelia, who stayed in Oren started doing odd jobs. She was a gardener, bar tender, maid, etc. Any work she could get to provide for her mother. She has a hard time holding down a job due to her kleptomaniac nature. She is determined to kick her habit and live an ordinary and productive life. She often travels to Haense to visit her elderly mother, but spends most of her time in Oren.
*Startled by the mans friendly nature, she stutters a reply. "Oh.. uh.. wealth?” She looks around at the amazing architecture. For one second, her mind wanders to all the possible items she could steal from such a magnificent city. She silently chastises herself for the thought*
