Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example:
"Appreciated. I see the town's kept its charm since last I passed through..." Fletcher smiled, his single eye glinting in the candlelight as he slowly dropped to sit on the cushion. His joints ached and groaned with protest as he finally allowed them to rest. "Truth is, I didn't think I'd be seeing this little...gem...of the land again." He smiled, a playful one to be sure but he evidently wasn't thrilled about camping out in the town that seemed more like a swamp than a civilisation. "Been driven out of one too many lands in my time, bouncing from rock to rock, home to home for as long as I can remember. My old man raised us to keep our fingers light and our packs even lighter if you catch me, so no offence lady, I wasn't exactly eyeing up this...armpit...when I came through a few years ago." His hand slipped into his pack, fishing a small handful of crumbled cheese out before popping a morsel into his mouth. "But it seems you're out doing the town's tavern. That, I can respect. Not too shabby in here. Warmth is warmth and sometimes, it's best to sleep somewhere that's your own rather than dropping coin on it...but having a place of your own is where I need to start. Gotta get that sorted first. That's why I'm back. Been running from my problems for too long. About time I made somethin of myself and settled down...maybe still make a few problems for myself, can't let life get too boring but that's not the point. I want what the fat cats up at the top have. A home. The gold. The respect. And by the gods lady, I'll get it all. Just you watch>"
