Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
At first, she looks confused in the old lady’s face, but then her friendly smile appears, and she sits down on the seat and starts to speak in an indifferent tone.
"My story, you ask? There isn’t much to tell, I am afraid. I had a normal upbringing in a small little village... Annnddd then I moved away to find a job I am passionate about."
She pauses her speech for a short moment and then starts to smile even brighter, her tone suddenly becomes enthusiastic.
"Talking about it, madam, I have a great deal for you. I create coffins and bouquets of flowers for the dead. Sometimes my clients are even the ones who are still alive because they want to take care of their grave as a precaution. Sooooo, would you be interested? I would even reduce the price for you because I am already thrilled to create the most beautiful grave for you! No other will compete with the beauty of your grave. I guarantee it!!"
(In the following dialogue, she would try to sell her, in a weird optimistic way, a beautiful grave.)
Addition:
Yes, the character indeed does not have a bad or dramatic backstory because most chars I played had such a story, so I wanted to try something different. I want to stress that I am not a native English speaker, and it’s my first time really playing Rp in English, so you can consider me as a noob. I also need some time to construct sentences in English, and I may make some mistakes (in active roleplay).
