Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
He sits down and took off my bag as he begins explaining his story. "I came from a small town back east where the crops grew plentifully and big" "It was all good and well until one day a message came" He pulled out a folded piece of paper from his backpack and unfold it. He read " Your town has ten days to get all your valuables in a box. If you do not comply this town will be raised to the ground". I folded up the paper again and put it into my backpack. " After we got this message the elders argued." He said "They did not want to bow to whoever sent this message. So after ten days that we did not comply." He paused "Bandits came out of the woods and overran the town burning looting and killing everyone and everything in sight". He shudders. "It was horrendous. I escaped with nothing but the clothes on my back." "I traveled for days and weeks during the day looking for food and sleeping and during the night moving west." He pulls out a box from his bag. "This is my gift to you for you letting me tell my story" He pulls a small crystal from the box and hands it over. "I don't know what it does and if I can't use it then I have no use for it, take it and find someone who will use it." He walks out and give them a wave as he picks up my bag and go back onto the road.
