    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Create a box that is your world and what the average abilities of the average person is. Create a second box around the first, that is the average capabilities of your character. Create a final box around the first two that is what your character might do on pain of death. Before breaking through each box, consider why you are doing so. Treat each box as equally important. If your character can do something normally, they should. It should Matter when they decide to act, when they decide to use their power, or when they decide to stand and fight.
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming in essence creates holes in the most important factor of roleplay, suspension of disbelief. For every explanation you handwave, every bit of information that you can't verify In Character, every "How did yo know that exactly?" You create strain on the fabric of the roleplay environment itself, even before getting into violated trust, disrupted plans for whatever event or arc you are a part of, and other negative consequences. If you cannot respect your characters own knowledge, you cannot respect your character.

Roleplay Scenario:

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Silura lets out a sigh as she brushed herself off, taking a moment to scrape the muck off her boots. " Those who expect me do not usually have the best intentions.  Regardless.... " she shifted her weight, before reluctantly taking a seat down at the cushion provided, resting a calm hand gently on the hilt of a long, curved dagger. " A bounty has gone up for a beast wandering around the area A bear, stricken with some malady. Crazed, and approaching settlements without fear, assailing travelers on the road.  It was last spotted  wandering the swamps beyond... Do you know anything of this threat? "
