In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is the usage of information IRP that one's character has not obtained through RP. An example would be if one's character described esoteric magic and used it against others without going through the proper processes to learn that esoteric magic.

The cries of a newborn could be heard upstream from a river on the outskirts of Oren. An infant, who appeared to be average at first glance, was picked up from a boat by a fisherman known as Quinn. Quinn was a widower with no intention to have children, but he couldn't get himself to leave the abandoned baby. So he took him in, and with the help of the village, he managed to take care of Decimus for his first years. As Decimus grew older, the village ladies began to notice something abnormal about him. The boy was rather stiff, with limited mobility and robotic movements. He was also unable to speak, and feeding him was a struggle of its own. Eventually, the village saw no purpose in caring for him anymore, and he was scolded and seen as an idiot. Quinn, however, believed that this boy had a purpose in his life and therefore protected and cared for the boy as if he was of his own blood. Throughout the years, the village had been growing increasingly dry of resources and people. With no other options, Quinn managed to find a job in a farm worker camp. Decimus had grown old enough to begin working, so he was allowed to travel to the work camp with Quinn. The conditions in the work camp were harsh, with Quinn and Decimus sleeping and living in an animal barn. Though they both struggled, Quinn ensured that Decimus was not overworked by doing most of his work. Eventually, all the work and a sickness made Quinn unable to perform his job. With as much effort as he could, Decimus attempted to work in the fields but suffered greatly due to his condition. On a cold night, Quinn passed away, leaving the mute and disabled Decimus all alone. The overlord of the worker camp had noticed this and evaluated the abilities of Decimus. Decimus' illness led to him being seen as an imbecile, and he was locked up in the barn, only to see daylight when the kind-hearted nurses fed and greeted him. For a few years, this was the case for Decimus, with some occasional tours out to the nearby city. On one such outing, Decimus managed to catch the attention of a doctor. The doctor observed him and Decimus got his first glimpse of the medical world. He saw miracles, people cured of illnesses he otherwise thought were inevitable deaths. Though at the sight of the injured, Decimus got teary-eyed; he still hadn't gotten over the death of Quinn. The doctor, Leopold Valleus, jokingly said that the boy's stiffness could make him a great surgeon. The overlord took this as no joke, as this was an opportunity to get rid of the boy. The doctor, however, still saw it as a joke but bought Decimus for research on his illness. The next few years were excellent for Decimus, he began to learn more about the world, and Leopold managed to train him to talk and perform more intensive actions. The previous joke was no longer a joke, as Decimus proved himself to be a promising surgeon with precise and almost robotic motions. But these days would end suddenly, with Decimus unexpectedly losing mobility and becoming increasingly stiffer. It was then that Decimus realized the limited time he had left before he could no longer have his freedom. On impulse, Decimus thanked the doctor for his time and set out to begin a journey. He did not know much about the world and understandably was afraid. Still, he had something substantial: his determination for surgery and to perform miracles for people like Quinn.

As he comes to a stop, the stiff and rugged person looks up as his neck creaks like an old door.

A struggling and quiet voice appears from his stiff mouth. "He.. he.."

"Hell-o"

His rigid arm reaches out with robotic motion to what seems to be an invitation to a handshake

"De-ci-mus" He exclaimed with relative ease
