Snoscape

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Example:

I smile softly, then gracefully settle into the small space taking a seat. "So, they told you of my arrival then." I smirk and take a quick glance around the tent. "And they were nagging me not to reveal too much." I take in the pungent smell of what I imagine is the mysterious stew. The course grass below me scratches, unlike the soft and luscious grass of my homeland. Nevertheless, I continue the conversation. "Those from the fae realm have allowed me to come here, though I must disguise myself as a common being of this realm. Thus my reason for visiting you." The hag pouts "You must tell me more, for that is the payment I seek. I'm sure a Naiad such as yourself can understand." I gaze into her endless eye, and see the depth of her knowledge.

She must have eaten many stories to still be alive in this realm and is not one to toy with. I take a deep breath trying to hold back my excitement at the thought of finally starting this new adventure. "Well you see, it was extremely difficult to leave with everyone's approval. Though I doubt it's the type of story you would like. I am simply here to play. There's no antagonist or great goal. However, I have heard rumors of this realm from the sprites, so I had to come to see it for myself. I visited the only sprite I knew in the realm and they sent me to you. Though it has been quite the hike since I am far from my spring. Also... taking the Unicorn Run was wild. I'm not sure putting it into words would fully convey it." She startles me with a sudden laugh that must have come from the bottom of her gut, no perhaps it was from the depths of the Nether. She spoke through the remnants of her chortle. "If that isn't a story, you must have experienced far too much in your lifetime." I regain my composure as the space settles down. "Well, I may not be a goddess, but you don't become a minor deity out of nowhere. Alas, that title does very little for me here at the moment. It is in the best interest of all the realms that my identity is not revealed." 

Her pondering only took a moment, "You shall be a high elf. I doubt your thirst for knowledge could be satiated by any other race, and the way you hold yourself will fit best with them as well. Your appearance is not far from theirs. I believe you can explain any oddities away. Just make sure you say you are 100, that will best match your appearance. They only live to 1000  If you tire of their art and science you may always travel, since they can be found throughout the realm. Though if you do not follow their standards, they will belittle you. I assume this normally would not phase you, however, you should take a moment to contemplate your position. Being in a new realm without your usual abilities will be a challenge. Would you prefer a normal elf?" I smile probably a bit too much as she becomes visibly less composed. "I love a good challenge."
