Folium was born in a remote farming village, away from the concerns of the world. He was born on The village was located within the borders of the Kingdom of Santegia, far away from civilization. Growing up, Folium had only his mother as his kin. His father died traveling to Presa de Madera for supplies when Folium was just a boy. While he lived in his village, he often helped out his mother and fellow villagers with manual labor. He eventually earned enough money to purchase a sword when he was 15 and began training with it. By the time he was 17, he was decent at being a swordsman, desite having been self-taught. He was no knight, but he could hold his ground against a regular person if need be.

In late 1696, his life would change forever. A tribe of orcs discovered his village. After a couple weeks of watching the village, the Orcs decided to strike.
It was night when they attacked. They began by slaughtering the livestock and setting the farms on fire. The sounds of screams woke Folium and he grabbed his sword, ready to defend his mother and home. When he arrived outside, the chief of the Orcs saw the boy. Amused, he challenged Folium to a duel, one-on-one. Folium accepted. Folium and the Chief then began clashing blades. Sparks flew, but the Chief was holding back, merely toying with the young boy. Folium kept slashing at his opponent, each time being parried away with little effort by the Chief. Folium then managed to land a blow on the Chief, leaving a nasty cut on the Chief’s cheek. Angered by this, the Chief sliced at Folium and took off his left arm in a single slice. Due to the pain, Folium passed out. The Orcs, believing Folium was dead, continued their attack on the village.

The attack didn’t last long, however. The Orcs discovered there was little loot and left the village, having killed everyone. The fire, however, caught the attention of a Doctor who was traveling the roads of Santegia. This doctor arrived at the village to discover Folium, who was barely holding on to life. The doctor then treated Folium’s wound, barely saving the boy’s life. Folium woke about a day or so later, in a local inn with the doctor. The doctor questioned who Folium was. What happened to Folium.

But Folium could not remember. All he remembered was his own name. The shock and trauma of losing his arm to an Orc had caused him to completely suppress his memories of his past. After two weeks at the inn, the doctor gave the boy a small pouch full of money, saying that he could not stay longer and had to get going. Unfortunately, he could not bring Folium with him, so he gave Folium some money to manage until he could find a place to work.

Folium has been wandering ever since, doing odd-end jobs to get by. In this time, he had discovered that he had some sort of talent with swords and got a simple iron sword that he now carries for defense.
