Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Ai'lyea looked around at all the candles, enchanted. She listened to the older woman speak, and stepped forward. She felt a little nervous, but she tried to hide it the best she could. She had no idea who this woman was, but what's wrong with a little conversation? She stood at the entrance, and opened her mouth to speak-
"Sit," is what the hag said to her, like a command. For a moment, it felt like her limbs were out of control. There was something else going on here, that's for sure.
She knelt down in front of the woman, and began to speak. There was no point putting on the usual mask when talking to this one. She knew the woman would see completely through it - she could just... feel it. With the magical feeling in the air, nobody could lie in this tent. Not even Ai'lyea.
"Well....My name is Ai'lyea." she spoke, trying to hold back the anxiety in her voice. "Well... I'm having a mid life crisis, to be honest. That's why I've come here." She looked around the room, her many earrings jingling on her large ears as Ai'lyea tried to gather her thoughts.
"I've been wanting something new. My husband? I left him. I never looked back. Nothing sates me, nothing is enough for me. I just need more. More excitement, more experiences, just... everything. I feel so out of control. I'm doing so many things I've never done before. Things I never thought I would do." She clutched her skirt in her hands tightly. The woman nodded sagely as she spoke, and Ai'lyea continued.
"I've wandered town to town. I meet people, I make friends. Just as I get used to it- I leave. I can't stay. I can't stay anywhere." Ai'lyea said, her voice trembling slightly. "I'm looking for something- someone, to make my life feel normal again. That's all."
It felt like something, just a little, was off her chest. She smiled slightly as they stared deeply into each others eyes. The hag gave a knowing smile, and Ai'lyea couldn't help but chuckle nervously. This town was going to be great!
