Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Si-u clasps a palm over her fist and bows to the crone in what would be to her, a respectful manner before taking a spot on the other side of the crone, "My story?" Si-u half-asks in a soft voice. Eyelashes flutter in a flurry before Si-u's eyes shut, head tilting down.

"My parents were farmers. My father was hard working, but my mother was frail and sickly. It was a lot of work for my father to produce enough to feed us, we were quite poor."  Si-u pauses for a moment, though her eyes stay shut, "I was.. loved, cared for.. We didn't have much, but we had each other." There was a hint of sadness in her voice, the young woman's eyes finally opening.

"But my mother got sick, and my father tried his best to raise money for medicine.." Another pause as if letting the gravity of the statement speak for itself, "I began to help my dad with farm work, but I was..so small..so young." Si-u began to fidget with her hands, rubbing the back of her palm and digging into skin with dull nails.

"Some men came, that my father owed money too.. he couldn't pay them, so they took me.. I was to become a gisaeng." Si-u's nostrils flare with subdued anger, the farfolk woman otherwise keeping her composure. "I was trained to entertain, sing, dance, converse... I hated it."

With a soft exhale, "I'd sneak out, there was this tree by my window.. I'd use it to escape. I went home once.. Some.. monsters had destroyed the farm, I couldn't find my father..I ran away, my father was dead and I had only been there for a short time.” With that there was another pause from Si-u, "I had no where else to go, I didn’t want to go back to that place. I was frightened and full of grief."

"But, I met a kind soul who took me in, helped raise me. Taught me some basic self-defense, and taught me to read. I became very interested in magic thanks to him.. Which leads to why I am here.." Si-u's voice gains some confidence, "I wish to learn magic, to find someone who will teach me."
