    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: You knowing something that the character you play doesn't, and using that information to your advantage.
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Having too many powers, or doing things that should be out of their power. Ei; Grabbing someone's soul or insta-killing another character, or characters.

Aria was born to two human parents, in a village in the Empire of Man. She does not have any siblings, but the her parents’ families met often. Her favorite place to go to in town was the local ink shop, spending most of her time there. When she was 10 she and her parents moved to a neighboring village, closer to the outer territory of the Empire. This meant she didn’t have the shop, and now spent most of her time  in a nearby tree grove, reading. When she was old enough -around 17 to 19- she moved out of her parents’ house and went to her original town. She got a job there at a Library for a couple years, up until she was 21. She’s been unemployed and has taken up exploring around the Empire for the past few years, earning money by helping out for a day at shops, or taking up thievery with some random thieves she met. She can’t remember any of their names. 

She is short tempered, persuasive, intriguing, and tentative. She can deceive and act innocent, though.  Her strengths include: being light on her feet, she’s clever, kinda strong- she can handle herself with a person or two, not many more though.- And can hold/ watch her tongue in the right situations. Her weaknesses are: She can act irrational under certain circumstances- Eg; a loved one, friend, or family being in danger or dead.- Her temper can overwrite her rationality if she doesn’t watch out, and can be aggressive or confrontational. If needed, she may act seductive, but does not regularly need to, or wish to participate in anything of the sort. In her free time Aria enjoys reading books and sewing new accessories and clothes, sometimes she’ll write a small thing down in a notebook she keeps in her satchel that she keeps with her, but not too often.

Physical Description: She has long, black hair with dark red eyes, her skin is a pale peachy color.
Roleplay Scenario: The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

  • Your Power-Gaming definition is incorrect. Please try to better convey the correct definition in your own words.
  • Your Backstory is more a list of character aspects and traits than an actual backstory. Please rewrite it and describe your character’s upbringing and life up to their current age. This does not need to be extensive, but should at least be a paragraph in length.
  • Your Interesting Facts lacks a clearly defined negative quirk, unless you were attempting to present your ‘fangs’ as the negative quirk, in which case I must ask that you elaborate, otherwise please rewrite them.
  • Your Skin isn’t medieval-friendly. I understand it can be difficult to find quality skins, however I must insist that you find something else to use. If you cannot find a skin, inform me and I will send you some resources to aid in your search.

 

Your application was generally satisfactory, however there are some issues that need editing. You have 24 hours to make these changes. Please message me on the forums once the requested changes have been made.

Just a few quick points I’d like to stress to you:

  • Fangs are alright, though please be careful about how you roleplay them. Sharpening, or having sharpened, your teeth is a fine rout, but if you intend to take the ‘Vampire’ rout, just know that you cannot start as one of these creatures, though lying and claiming to be one is fine.
  • Powergaming is more commonly understood as the forcing of actions upon others. This does not mean that your definition is wrong, as I wouldn’t be accepting you if it was, but just that your definition is not the one that is commonplace.
