In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: In the event I know someone well, or have received outside information of things my character would have no way of knowing, and then proceed to use this knowledge in game with insufficient RP to acquire said knowledge, this would be Meta
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Power gaming would be things such as insta-killing others with an emote, or performing great physical feats my character does not have the ability to do.

Totsu was born in Avalain, Curon. His parents were immigrants of farfolk descent. His father was unknown to him, as he abandoned Totsu’s mother in the early stages of her pregnancy. His mother, Yukan’na, was murdered by a group of Reivers only a few months after Totsu had been born. Left abandoned, in his now deceased mother’s arms, an Elven thief who called himself Famien who was spectating from the shadows adopted him, and named him Bones, for the rather upsetting way he was found. As he grew up, he learned the trades of thieves, sneaking in the shadows, pickpocketing, what to swipe from a merchant and what not to as to be unnoticed. One of Bones’ only possessions was a tattered and ancient book he managed to swipe from a chest in the attic of a very old Human’s home, about a Wizard  that lived long ago. Famien cared little to take it form him and sell it, so Bones read and reread the fascinating tales. It told stories of great heroism, and appearing in the time of need. Helping all those who needed help. Bones wanted to follow in the Wandering Wizard’s footsteps, but with Famien as his overseer, there was little he could do. Bones and Famien rarely spoke, causing Bones to scarcely speak, only when needed. Later in life he realized Famien only kept him around for his size, his ability to squeeze into tight spaces, and his nimble small hands. On what he considered his 15th birthday, he awoke to realize Famien had abandoned him. He wondered why he had been beaten and bruised so much in life, losing his mother, his character, always being hungry, never having a permanent home. He often thought to himself “This must be Iblees’ doing, punishing me. But for what?” He had served his usefulness. From here forward, he only used the skills he adopted to survive. Only taking what he needed, hunting when he can, avoiding thieving. At the age of 18, Bones realized he had special skills, he could use to help those in need, just like the Wandering Wizard, his childhood hero, prove his honor, and finally be good enough in his own eyes, and his mother’s watching over. Henceforth, he hunted more, stole less, and gave to those in need, and only kept the necessities for himself. He traveled across Arcas, helping travelers and the poor. At 20, while traversing a forest, he encountered a dying Forest Dwarf. Bones did what he could to make the old man’s deathbed as comfortable as he could, tending to his needs for several weeks. In his last few breaths, the dwarf told Bones a story of an old friend of his, a farfolk, named Totsu. Totsu died protecting the dwarf form a horde of bandits, outnumbered 20 to 1. Totsu wore black garments, with little armor, for he was a swift and formidable opponent. His only notable feature, was a pair of white gauntlets decorated with protrusions and scars from battle, and a mask. The mask was odd, animal in appearance, but it seemed sentient. A fox, maybe. The dwarf told Bones that he reminded him of Totsu in every way, appearance, prowess, and attitude. The dwarf gifted Bones Totsu’s old garments, and said it was the battle dress of ancient warriors. He hadn’t the slightest idea where Totsu acquired it, and he never asked. Bones, hesitantly adopted the attire, and with his last huff of raspy words, reminded Bones, “Never forget where you come from boy, but never let it define what you will do. No past, present, or future life will ever bare happiness for you, unless you can accept yourself for who you are, Totsu.” As the old Dwarf passed with Bones at his bedside, it was then he decided. He will adopt the role of Totsu, for he felt a connection with the mask, spiritually, as he’s had it before, not once but many times. Totsu. It rung different in his ears now, an endearing term, as if someone he once loved was calling for him. He retained the title of Bones. But he knew deep down, he was Totsu. It felt sacred to him, the name. He decided only his most trusted companions would be able to refer to him as such. He longed to return home, to his hometown in Curon. He began his journey.
