Sylvis grew up in an orphanage in the city of Holm in Atlas, not knowing his parents. The orphanage was run by an old and kind mountain dwarf simply known as Gralthrum. There his love of books formed as he would be constantly reading stories like the writings of the Wandering Wizard and tales of the Silver Forest. Due to his love of reading, he was often bullied by human children in the orphanage. As Gralthrum was the closest thing Sylvis had to a father, he taught Sylvis a lot including how to read, write, cook, and basic survival tactics. Later on, in Sylvan’s life, Gralthrum gave him a grey cloak saying that it was what he was wrapped in when he was brought to the orphanage.
When he became of age he wished Gralthrum a farewell and left off on his own. After he had left the orphanage he joined a theatre as stage crew. In his past time, he would be constantly reading. He took a short break from the theatre to mourn the passing of Gralthrum, and he later joined back but as an actor. As he read more and more books Sylvan had the idea to write one. He decided to travel to Arcas and gather information for the book he is going to write so he quit the theatre. He decides to buy a boat ticket to The Land of Arcus and leaves as soon as he can, bringing only the essentials. When he arrived in Arcus, he stepped off the boat and a wealthy-looking man asked him why he was here.
”I thank you for the warm welcome,” Sylvan says slightly annoyed “I have come to this fine city for a different reason. You see I’m interested in traveling the land and gathering information to write a book.”
