In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is when you bring outside information in from the real world (information that your character wouldn't know) and use it in-game. I.e *Friend private messages me saying they are being kidnapped, says please help me.* Unless someone communicated to my character in-game, my character wouldn't know that my friend is in danger, and so wouldn't be able to help them. If I were to use the information provided to me out of character, I would be metagaming.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming is when you make your character overpowered. i.e *Dodges all attacks without any mistakes, even though I've lost an eye, I have an arrow wound in my shoulder, and I've broken my ankle.* You make your roleplaying responses/character unbeatable. It also includes a person forcing another person to emote, or do something in a certain way through roleplay.

Finnick was born in Norland to his mother Adelysia, and father Albray, along with his twin brother Jesper, and older sister Ismenia. His parents were simple trading merchants. His family lived a peaceful life, running a small store out of Norland, trading and selling various items. Finnick was very curious at a young age, always intrigued by the different people coming into the shop, talking to almost everyone who came in. Finnick was friends with anyone and everyone, always blabbering to the person he was in closest proximity to. He was a very bright and trustful child, up until the age of eight, when his parents deemed the business to be drying up in Norland. His parents were known for trading strange things, which could occasionally be hard on the business. Finnick's parents had decided it best to move to Talons Port, because it seemed like a lively place for business. Finnick, being easy going went along with the plan. Although sad, because he would have to leave the only place he knew as home, and all of the people he called friends.  He couldn't lie though, he was excited for an adventure. After quickly packing and making the journey to Talons Port, his family settled for about three years, until his parents again deemed the trading business to be drying up in Talons Port. Finnick felt that the time was too short in Talons Port, that he had just begun to feel comfortable there, and yet they were leaving so soon. The Norphyra family had now decided to moved to Sutica. Soon three years passed and Finnick and his family were moving again, this time back to Norland. Finnick's siblings were ecstatic that they were moving back to their original place of dwelling, however Finn wasn't, he was afraid. Afraid that Norland wasn't the same it was now that he was fourteen, afraid that life might be worse, for what reasons, he was unsure of. Possibly, because he felt that no one would remember him. Finnick slowly began to become a quiet shadow of what he used to be before moving around. Finnick and his siblings throughout all of this chaos of moving so frequently, were being schooled by their parents, and a few lessons here and there by other professors of certain topics. Finnick and his siblings resided in Norland for another four years before his parents decided that it would be best if their children were to go off on apprenticeships, experience different places and people, and that at this time, their parents were also unsure where their family stood on religion. Being that it is a important component of human culture, their parents were unsure if they supported The Red Faith, or The Church of Canon. At this time Finnick was now eighteen. The eldest, Ismenia was sent to a seamstress to follow out a apprenticeship with in Sutica, while the twins were sent different ways. Jesper was sent to apprenticeship with a Brewery in Honeyhill, while Finnick was sent off to a possible apprenticeship in blacksmithery in Karosgard. However his apprenticeship fell through. At this point in time, Finnick is now eighteen, and unsure of his future.
