In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Power gaming is the act of not just making yourself stronger then you should be in roleplay, but also forcing your roleplay and actions on them. This can range from a non magic user using magic or saying "I stab and kill you instantly" power gaming can be avoided by only worrying and acting about yourself and not attempting to force actions upon other people while also making sure you aren't going above yours.

In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Meta gaming disrupts fair play because it can not only actively ruin story lines but the fundamental basis of roleplay, this is not only done by using information only in OOC (out of character) but also forming grudges and other similar things through an OOC perspective. This can ruin fair roleplay because someone whos acting properly will be at a unfair advantage and thus overall have their experience hurt aswell.

Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Jan Paleček walked in, bowing his head toward the lady seated before him as a gesture of reverence and respect. "Ma’am, I am attempting to return to Aevos. My family and I were driven out by the Church for our so-called heretical beliefs when I was just a boy, but now I seek to make a name for myself once more." His gaze flickered toward the candles before narrowing suspiciously. "Might I ask, do you practice the most holy faith? Those candles do not look they belong to a woman who follows it."
