Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Imbalayo stutters and tenses up, unsure. "I... uh..." he stutters. Imbalayo glances from the crone to the rest of the tent and the swamp outside before finally resting his eyes onto her. The silence stretches on awkwardly until Imbalayo finally decides to sit on the cushion the crone offered. Imbalayo swallows, breaking the silence as he says "I am Imbalayo. I travel from town to town looking for festivals and work where I might earn enough to keep moving."
Imbalayo suddenly feels his hunger, and notices the smell in the tent. "I am hungry. I know this isn't a story but I am hungry. And these mosquitoes are relentless. The swamp is horrible. The smell and the water, I have issues with them." Finally, Imbalayo remembers her question as he catches himself in his thinking. "My story is long, and not very amusing. You would probably be bored before I finish, I think. I am just a common man trying to make ends meet, day by day, to earn enough to keep moving."
