Coatl's birth was worrying to his parents early on, their son born sickly and weak and having to be tended to each day for fear of him perishing. This carried on for several years, denying him a youth of being active, to prepare for the life ahead. When it did fade, he still walked among his kindred as a runt, barely able to keep up with the many. His parents tried their hardest to support him, but slowly maternal instinct faded and shame took over them. The child they had did not live up to expectations, and with their curse it was near impossible to produce another. Coatl was almost given up on, but soon wanted to prove everything wrong. He battled, trained, and pushed himself until his body would give. But he was far beneath the achievements of the others, and far beneath the worth his parents expected of him. He pulled away from his family as time went on, their speaking almost immediately coming to a halt. Leaving his home to travel, to learn from others, to find a way to overcome his weakness, and prove his family wrong.
In this rebellion, he shaved a great deal of his beautiful hair, striking out on his own and dropping his birth name, taking on the moniker of Coatl. Turning his back on his people's home and that of the Princedom of Fenn entirely, and willingly enduring the strife of the world past the walls. However, he wasn't ready for true combat, often finding himself fleeing rather than battling. Eventually, he took up part time work to help him keep out, not wanting to give up and go home early. He began working as a chef for Taverns, learning a new gift in cooking, something he is far more proficient in than he was battle. However his envy of those with magic sprung up the more he associated with travelers, meeting many mages. His people were far from gifted with such arts, but a soft desire for it stuck in him. All fears, all difficult tasks, and a poor self-concious boy at the base of it all.
