You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example: Looking upward to the source of the voice, the dwarf would take a step back defensively, apprehensive of the stranger addressing him. After a moment without action, he would clear his throat, parched and in need of ale before the day was out, "Dont believe Ive ever seen yer before, but if yer offerin' rest in this dusky bog, s'pose I'd be daft to refuse yer invitation". Still wary, Korglaz would approach slowly before finally taking a seat on the cushion. "But fer my story? Ye'll need a little bit of history about me. Yer see...a few days ago..."-

In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: To avoid powergaming, only ever emote actions that your character is control over. Also important not to dictate the result, so leave it open for your RP partner to pick up from where your emote ends. Be it in conversation or a battle-emote chain. This should solve powergaming on your end at the least.
(e.g John would swing his axe, aiming the blow towards Bob's chest, hoping to land a crippling hit).

In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Meta gaming disrupts fair roleplay usually by giving an advantage over a character with secret character plots theyve yet to reveal (if ever). It takes the wind out of their character progression, and to any friends/allies apart of it.
A step to avoiding Metagaming incidents, is to always keep any Out-of-Character information you learn (through discords/whispers/etc) seperate from In-Character information. You can do this by having seperate notes for what you learn and decide to jot down for future use, for IC & OOC each. That would then hopefully avoid meta even if unintended.
