Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Elwin stays stood "I am not here for long, I thought I had best paid you a visit...
I was looking for something but now my objective is gone and I need someone or something to bring new purpose to my life." He says with his head hung low and his fist clenched.
The old hag responds "Why dont you tell me more boy, I have many cures for many ailments but a broken heart is not one easily repaired with so few words."
"the village guards in my hometown were sent on a quest, but did not have the guts to do what they must. I was at home with my father learning to smith when they approached, they told me i must do the quest for them or they would kill my parents and sister... so i did..." Said Elwin with his head in his hands.
"...And did you?" replied the hag
He continues "Me and my dog left with what little equipment i had to fight a beast... a boy of 18 and his dog against a monster, what were they thinking? We arrived at that disgusting cave that seemed like hell had opened and we did it... we killed the beast... but not before he stole my dog's life before my eyes."
The hag thought this story did not have a happy ending, "so what happened when you arrived home?"
"The guards had assumed i would not survive and so to remove any evidence of them attempting to blackmail me into their bidding, they slaughtered my family... and so i sought revenge, only to find one had been killed by a lowly boar... and the other to illness." Elwin says as he raises his head and stands in stoicism.
"oh my... truly a tragic tale my friend... but tell me, what is it you desire?" said the hag calmly.
"what do i want?.. I dont think i know anymore..."
