Saelethil is an outcast; a loner. Not accepted by one family, and definitely not accepted by the other. Even though the Mali'ame are more accepting of outsiders, they certainly aren't accepting of half breeds.
Sael is half Mali'ame and half human, probably from one of the highlanders or heartlanders. Whoever the father is, Sael would never know. He was raised with his mother, inside of the Dominion of Malin, yet not in Linandria. He grew up knowing only a mother; Gihlanna Qihorn, an elvish huntress. From his birth, the already secluded huntress became even more secluded, not wanting her son to grow up with prejudice to him. So, in seclusion she taught her son the skill she thought most useful; her skills of hunting and herb lore. She taught him this for years, as it slowly dawned that he was going to age half-way between an elf and a human, so that he became an adult around 30 rather than 50 or 18.
As a man of 32, Sael left the safety of his home, striking out to be his own man. He is not tattooed, so he is seen as seedless. He looks more human than elvish, aside from the somewhat pointed nature of his ears. So he decided that, instead of trying to fit in as an elf, he would just try and be an exceptionally good archer as a human.
And now he strikes out, looking for his place in the world of Axios.
