In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming overturns the idealistic goal of a 50-50 win rate for the involved parties. It ruins the balance of the game and turns an otherwise balanced experience for all parties involved, into a one sided power fantasy for the few. The same as a bigger animal in nature would sometimes loose to the smaller one to keep the play entertaining for both sides, even if one has an overwhelming advantage in game, not all of that advantage is always needed to achieve an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
The same goes for the weaker party, not always do you need to win an engagement to have an enjoyable experience, especially when realism breaks for you to achieve your goals.

    TLDR
No matter if one has the advantage or disadvatange, you shouldn't always aim for a decisive victory, but for a realistic outcome and an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming involves utilizing what is effectively hindsight to gain an advantage. In many games meta builds and meta items exist, like mimic tear in Elden Ring, which break the game so much that it trivializes other mechanics in the game and fundamentally changes the game play loop. As I understand the definition of metagaming in LoTC, it also involves seeking a theoretically perfect route for your character's success which is also effectively god-like hindsight, which fundamentally clashes with the roleplay nature of the server. How can a character know which direction to go, what actions to take? Without the appropriate magic/tools this is simply impossible for the character and thus breaks the immersion and roleplay.
    Status: Accepted

((Share your character’s backstory! Please ensure it’s at least six sentences, written in third person, and references to the server lore, including a current realm in our map.))

If you’re stuck on what to add, consider the following:
- Your character’s family (parents, siblings, etc.)
- Where your character is from (include a real place on the map)
- What kind of environment was your character raised in
- Why your character left home

Tsagaan was born to a nomadic herder family in Ramasar. Born with albinism, Tsagaan was viewed with contempt from birth. As soon as he could walk and talk, his development diverged from the usual path of children in his family. Since sunlight was harmful to Tsagaan, he usually slept during the day. When he wasn't asleep during the day, he was entrusted with indoor tasks, like creating and maintaining tools for the family. During the night he would watch over the family's herds alone. This loneliness was stifling for Tsagaan, so he would set out on a journey to find a remedy for his affliction, and upon return earn a place in his family through independence and strength, not pity.

Character Name: Tsagaan
Character Race: Farfolk
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 18
Physical Description: Medium build and average height for the race. Pale skin, white hair, blue/grey eyes (albinism). Wears a simple, traditional deel (mongolian clothing).
Roleplay Scenario:

The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

((How does your character respond? Please ensure your response is at least six sentences long, and uses at least two actions.))

Example:  "Uhmm... Me?" Tsagaan clumsily closes the door. "I am from the south" he answers and moves towards the chair. "These candles look great. Say, can you bend the world to your will in other ways as well? Can you shield from sun without cloth and garment? Can you bend a herd of animals to your will better than the best shepherd?" Tsagaan is eager to find out about his needs and speaks his mind in full honesty. "Do you know where I could learn such skills?"

Hi there! Your application has been put on pending as there are changes that need to be made before you can be accepted. See below.

  • Your Physical Description doesn’t match the race you picked! Humans can't have red eyes, even with albinism. Please refer to the Racial Hub WIKI page for more information.

If you do not make these changes within 48 hours,  you will be denied. When you are finished, please message me on Discord @m.g.archer to let me know, or if you don’t have Discord, send me a forum message, and please do ask if you have any questions.
