John is a Daelishman that was brought up in Daeland, his main focus was to farm the fields and herd the live stock. In Atlas he settled in the Daelish town that is near to Marna. Marna left Daelish alone and the Daelish left Marna alone.
However, John was nearly conscripted to go to war when Marna attacked everyone, the Daelish people being on high alert and nearly getting conscripted to go off and fight against the Kingdom of Norland in the east!
All of this was a stark contrast to how John was brought up, he was brought up as a farmer and didn't see much of conflict apart from killing and hunting animals so he could provide food to his family.
Now John is 18 and lives peacefully in Daeland, hoping to start a family.

She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
