In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Make sure to think about if the action is realistic for the character. They don't have spidey-sense! They can't dodge an arrow they don't know about! Do not say how (or if) another character reacts to an action. Give the other players a chance to say how their character reacts.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: It can cause a casual discussion outside the roleplay about, for example, lore, to apply to a character inside the roleplay. If I read or participated in a discussion about the lore of the world and there was something in there my character did not know about, if I used that knowledge while roleplaying, it would disrupt fair roleplay because my character was not supposed to know that yet. It would put me at an advantage, and if I looked through enough lore chats and conversations about characters, I could use that knowledge while in roleplay and my character would suddenly know everything. What other characters can and can't do so my character can prepare accordingly, what is in that old temple so my character knows whether or not to go in there, ect. Compare that to someone playing fairly. They knew about the giant death monster in the temple, but their character did not and wanted to go in there. Their character would probably die, but my character wouldn't because they wouldn't go there in the first place. (Sorry I made this so long)

Character Name: Klarg
Character Race: Goblin
Character Gender: Prefer not to say.
Character Age: 28
Physical Description: They are a thin and short goblin, with small tusks and sand brown skin. 4 ft 3 in and about 152 lbs. They have goggles and casual-ish clothing.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

"Huh", Klarg mutters. Clearly confused, but glad to have somewhere to sit that isn't caked with mud, they sit down. After thinking for a moment, they decide the woman is trustworthy (Of course they come to that conclusion with almost everyone). Klarg took a breath. "Well", they started, "I was born overseas. My parents were treasure hunters in the old realms. Left the horde for it. Said there was lots o' stuff to be found! Emeralds an' diamonds! Old redstone contraptions left behind! But when I was born, they decided to stop and settle in Vansk." They paused to take a breath. "I loved to tinker, mainly with movin' things around. Some people thought the contraptions were cool, they became my friends. Caused a lot of trouble with 'em. Accidentally set one of 'em on fire! Heh. Luuni's still alright." "My parents kept their ship by the ocean. Still cared for it. One day I asked about it. They decided to finally use it again and took me on a treasure hunt! The design of the boat was pretty impressive. Instead of a sail, they used a wind charge engine! 'Course it only worked 'cause the boat was small." Klarg began explaining the contraption and drew a design of it in the mud. "We got real far with it!" They continued. "We stopped at one of those copper dungeons or whatever. The ones with the wind things. Trapped 'em good. Real good. We found lotsa treasure! Gold! Amythest! Potions! Best of all, there were these copper lamps that we were able to bring back!" Klarg was yelling now, waving their arms excitedly as they went on and on about the things they found. "Wasn't all fun and games, though. Came across some of those beasts people talk about. Broke our boat, the jerks. Thankfully, pretty easy to repair. We decided to call it and sailed- or, I guess not sailed. Cruised, back home. Told my friends all about the stuff we did! Life went on pretty calm for the next couple years. Build some cool stuff, show some cool stuff, steal some cool stuff, set less cool stuff on fire with cooler stuff, the usual." Klarg stopped for a moment to consider what to say next. "But once I turned 15, my friends and I decided we wanted to start showin' off this stuff. So we began travellin', goin' from town to town, settin' up contraptions. People liked 'em,  gave us gratuities! And what did we use to bring all the stuff with us? Redstone, o' course! Some people even asked for the blueprints of the cargo carriers! Had to be careful, though. Came across some muggers. Night was dangerous, too. Good thing redstone could solve that problem. Went on like that for a while. Eventually, we decided to part ways. We all liked redstone, but different parts of it. One o' my friends started engineering battle contraptions. Another designed blueprints. I personally like messin' with the stuff. Seein' what happens." Klarg looked down at the mud, a slight frown on their face. "I miss 'em." Sighing, they continued: "We still see each other, but not much". They perked up. "I still have fun, though. Makin' new stuff. Meetin' new people. Makin' new stuff with new people. I've started takin' up some jobs here an' there. Can't do redstone all th' time". Klarg stretched. "Had a rough situation with my most recent partner, though. They took all my redstone stuff when I was sleepin'. Materials, blueprints, machines, everything. Don't know why. So I've kinda had to start from scratch, you know? Get all the materials I need, build a cargo carrier, that stuff. At least they didn't take my money. I guess they still care about me, even if a little". Klarg looked up. "So that's my story. Now why were ya expecting me? You a shaman? Spirits told you? Whatever. Anything else ya want, or can I get going? Still gotta make it back to where I was".
