Camus Joric was born in Ker’nor to his two dark elf parents. With convenient access to the city’s mines, his father is a sculptor who makes ornate statues of the ancestors of various families in Ker’nor. His mother serves as one of the guards of the city. Most of his life was spent comfortably: he and his family made an above average income and together they lived in a cozy house. In Camus’ little spare time, he spent time in the Grand Library of Dragur, fascinated by magic. He had a great bond with his family and didn’t expect to do anything other than follow in his father’s footsteps as a sculptor, so from an early age he set his goal on becoming a sculptor to take over his father’s business. However, he also took a keen interest into his mother’s work as a guard and found it to be an honorable and rewarding profession.
While on a delivery of a scuplture he carved to the nearby settlement of Linadria, Camus met a female wood elf named Eletha and over the next few years they fell in love. However, one day Eletha went missing. A few months later, a desperate Camus finally found Eletha. She was now a limp, reanimated corpse serving a hooded necromancer who had ambushed him on the road. Taking Eletha’s body into his arms, Camus glared at the necromancer who vanished soon after.
Blinded by love and pain, Camus forgoes his generally careful and rational thinking process that is common among dark elves. With the basic knowledge he has learned at the Grand Library, Camus intends to develop his skill in magic as quickly as possible and track down the person or people who murdered Eletha. Using his skills from helping with his father’s business, Camus also plans to build a secret lair to further experiment with necromancy. Unless someone or something can turn his vengeance into a productive and orderly contribution to his world, Camus will do anything he can to discover the secrets of necromancy to exact a gruesome revenge.
