Niall had an uncharacteristically rocky relationship with his family. Born as a weaker elf to a family that valued physical strength, there was great emphasis on him developing the necessary skills to make up for his lack of physical ability. His father Averindas, was a strong influence in his incessant training, even going as far as to attempt an arranged marriage between his son and another dark elf girl named Solyssina to correct his behaviour. While Niall had a terrible experience with his father, he found a wonderful friend in Solys and looks back on his relationship with her very fondly. While the veneration of the blade as an artform drew him, as well as an excuse to be with his dearest friend, he was far more interested in the arts of writers and performers, wishing to dedicate himself wholly to those crafts. This desire to create stories and poetry sparked an insatiable curiosity within the young Niall, who turned his gaze to the horizon and wanted to venture out and find as many wonders as he could to inspire his writing - this rejection of strength and desire to leave his family caused a rift with his relationships, where Niall learned he could not be open about his rejection of his family and their values. He spent countless years practicing his literature and art, he had kept a journal of potential routes he planned to travel and places he wanted to visit, all the while his own desire to reject his family grew stronger. Eventually, his practice had been uncovered, and he fought back against the demands of his family, this escalation caught the intention of his elder and he was cast out from his home. Realising the gravity of this decree, he was stricken with horrible guilt, throwing away any heraldry for his clan and shying away from any hint at his home culture and kin. Solys had shunned him, called him a disgrace, and it cut especially deep, the only thing he really has to call himself a dark elf is his skin.
Having nowhere else to go, Niall set out into the world and hopes to accomplish his dream - lest him losing his entire family be in vain.
He reaches out to shake the stranger's hand, "thank you for the welcome, friend! I'm here for adventure, to see the sights!" His eyes dart away from the stranger, taking in the vibrant port. "I'm glad that the first place I arrive is so full of life!"
