Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
"Eh excuse me.. I have seemed to have made a wrong turn. I.. I was looking for a town to get a hot meal for my journey." His thoughts began to run gathering the words to say, he wonders how she might know him. Why would she be expecting him? He begins to pace the area in the opening of the tent. He has a flashback of his childhood doing the same thing waiting for his father, a farmer. The boy had gotten into a fight with a local butcher's boy defending a young child begging for food. The boy's father was a stern man but kept to himself and was always telling the boy to look the other way this could affect his ability to sell crops in the village. Years later now a teenager the boy see's a group of children playing pranks on an elderly merchant they are able to use a slight of hand to steal the merchants coin purse. He cuts off the group as they are making their escape armed with just a bundle of wheat and a sack of potatoes he takes them on 3v1, they get the best of him but drop the coin purse in the process. Beaten and bruised the teenager returns the coin purse to the merchant. The merchant tries to give him a coin for the trouble but the boy says "It cost nothing to be kind." Suddenly he realizes he has spoken this out loud. The old hag says "Sounds like you have a lot on your mind son, sit down I insist." The man sits on the cushion, looks at the old hag and with a smile ready and confident to start his journey.
