Aelin grew up in Lareh'thilln with her mother, Kali and her father, Aywin. She once had an older brother, Haldir but he died young at age 10 in a freak accident with magic. Ever since Haldir died her parents were cruel and to harsh on Aelin because they believed Haldir was the best heir and was most apt to take over the art gallery the family ran. Aelin was less into art and reading and more into swordsmanship and gardening. Her parents saw this as weakness and unnecessary. After years of reading about the Vihai and how they defended there kin, she had always wanted to do that too and didn't understand why her parents were so cruel. After years and years of taking her parents cruelness she decided to make a vow that she would be careful how she carries herself and who she interacts with. She doesn't care if the people she interacts with are high elf or not, unlike her kin she isn't as judgmental to other races and people. She wants to judge people on how they treat others and herself. She really wants to learn how to really use her sword and start a huge garden. She doesn't have any high goals in life other than just to be happy and surround herself or with people who love her, or if not, be by herself in her own happiness.
Aelin steps off the boat onto the docks and takes in the sprawling bazaar infront of her, "so many people" she says to herself.
After a moment a man appears infront of her and he smiles and says “Welcome!” “What brings you to this lovely city? Adventure? Wealth? Or some grand aspirations to elevate your place in society?”
Aelin takes in the man for a moment and lays her hand on her sword and says "Just here for a visit. What are you here for, do you sell something?" After she says this her face softens a bit, almost relaxing and remembering how to talk to someone kindly.
