This includes much more than the character biography itself, and I will apologize for it, as there are many things I would like to point out which do not necessarily have to do with the character. The "Faction" is a part of a small confederation of six, different tribes. I have planned this out with a few of my friends. I apologize in advance for grammar, for I am not native speaker, and also for the lore mistakes that may come up.
Now for the biography and other stuff itself:
About Adalwulf: Adalwulf is 21 years old. His father is called Alberich, and mother Hildburg. Adalwulf, like his father, has watched the politics of Atlas, waiting for a good opportunity to make money, albeit rather far more lazily than his father. He generally gets along with his fellow tribal chieftains, who sometimes are more experienced than him. As Adalwulf has lived in his castle for a long time, he knows very little about really fighting, even if he has been taught by the best warriors in his father's household. Adalwulf can be naive and slow, but he is very curious and usually has a good memory and he tends to be very fair, which is sometimes caused by his naivity. Adalwulf can be a really talkative person, and sometimes rather easily annoyed/angered. Adalwulf has been taught about history of his people, but he does not know too much about Atlas. Ever since his father's reign, the Northmen have come ever closer to the other civilisations. Adalwulf is much more swarthier than his fellow Wodanings who also happen to be one of the darkest northmen. His skin is lightly tan, and his hair is black, and very oddly, green eyes. Adalwulf might seem to the civilised people of Atlas a barbarian... because he kind of is, as the culture of Wodanings and other northmen is somewhat more primitive than most people of Atlas. The Northmen use runes, which can be enchanted by the best of mages. Overall, Adalwulf is somewhat charismatic and somewhat productive leader, but he has little to no idea about the "world of real men" and wars, where he relies on his advisors and fellow chieftains. Adalwulf's life has been somewhat uneventful. When he was five years old, he was almost killed by a bear while hunting with his father, but Adalwulf hit the bear with a stone to it's head, knocking it out. Adalwulf was educated well by his advisors, and he crushed a revolt with his father when he was 15 years old in the camp of the tribe of Mossgårdians. The Revolt was started against the chieftain of Mossgårdians, who had supposedly stolen from the poor. While Adalwulf was knocked down and saved by his father, it is the only real battle experience he has had. Adalwulf's father was killed while mounting a wild horse when he was 19 years old right before his eyes. Adalwulf tried to chase the horse down, but it fled.
Now here comes the part where I explain where the tribes actually come from... I am quite anxious how well it will go... But I'll never know if I don't give it a shot!
The Tribes: As with all humans, the Northmen have a short lifespan, around 150 years The Wodanings are an odd people who technically belong to the farfolk, although they are different from the most of the farfolk, having fairer skin tone and coming from the North, making them look like the Highlanders and Heartlanders. The Wodanings, along with the other 5 tribes of the North (Originally 7 others), have come a long way to reach Atlas. The Northmen used to live in a large empire, far away from the land that is Atlas. Not much is known about this land, it seems that almost no one knew about it prior to it's destruction. The northmen lived in large cities such as Mossgård and Kungsbruk, but the reign of Wilfred the Unready came. The Kingdom fell into a chaos, and civil wars ravaged the land. Wilfred's uncle Wodan restored the peace to the Northlands, but the damage had been already done. Wodan reigned in relative peace for 20 years, until, Svarteldur, the dragon of death, killed Wodan, destroyed their homeland, most of the cities were left deserted, and Wodan's son Alard disappeared. The dragon's minions and undead came out of the mountains where Mossgård was once located, and killed the most survivors. A nobleman from the steppes, Valamar, led a resistance group in the previous capital Mossgård, and he with his group of knights slayed Svarteldur, and dead Alard, who had been killed by the dragon. Valamir was crowned the king of what was left of the kingdom in Mossgård, where he lived for five years peacefully, but the city was besieged by the hordes of the undead. The siege last five months, but was broken due to the fact that Valamir trapped and destroyed a part of the army. The people had to flee the land to the cold mountains. Years passed on and on, and Valamir died. The tribes no longer had an uniting factor, as the people really loved Valamir. The tribes split, and their relations frosted as the finally High King had died.
As the tribes split, their languages and customs changed, even though they still interacted very commonly. The numbers of the tribesmen ever watered down, due to the hostile nature of the land. The Tribes were chased to the coastline of their old continent and the leader of the tribe of the sea, Ælfgar, decided that the only way for survival was to leave the continent, and for decades they wandered the seas, many commited suicide because the hopelessness of the trek. The ships arrived to a coast in South, 100 passings of the sun before the founding of The Tribal Council. The fleets were driven away by hostile navies, and the ships were engulfed in a storm. Only a few of the ships made it, and two tribes were lost, the tribes of the Tundra and The Hills. No one actually knows if they survived or not, but they lost the main group. The main group crash landed on a cold, desolate southern coast on the continent of Atlas, a land full of ancient mysteries to plunder and discover. For hundred years the tribes tried to settle down, but were driven back every time. The tribal council was refounded under the chieftains Astaulf of the Wodanings, Steinbjorn of Mossgårdians, Vithmiris of the Steppe (Name for the tribe still missing), Esegar of the Sea (Name for the tribe also missing), Grimbald of the Forest (No name for that tribe either), Sigismund of the Swamp (Yeah... nope). The tribes crushed the relatively small bands of undead and made the way further inland and settled down as a semi nomadic people. The tribes lived far away from the main hustle of the continent, watching the kingdoms and states of the land. As of now, the tribes are moving closer to other humans. The Tribes are pagan, and the whereabouts of their homeland has been lost to time, from all they know they could've come from a different world. Not much is known from these men, except that they seem to be related to the people of Kingdom of Norland, atleast linguistically. No one knows where the connection comes from as no one has any idea where their homeland lies. They are bound by their origins as an empire, although due to their low numbers and their long time as nomads, they are ever drifting towards becoming mercenaries for a larger kingdom, becoming the pieces of the big game...
(I do not think the Northmen should be considered a nation, as we'll pledge ourselves into a larger faction later on) Also the editing is kind of hard, so I apologize for misspelled words and odd spaces.
Now for the tribe of Wodanings itself. This part has more to do with Adalwulf himself, as it explains about the tribe he is the leader of.
About Wodanings: The Wodanings used to live around the river vales of the old, around the city of Kungsbruk. They claim descent from Wodan's daughter Adelhelma. Their current leader is Adalwulf Alberikson. The camp of the Wodanings is not larger than most of the camps of the tribes. The Wodanings are the best farmers of the northmen due to the fact that they used to be the people of the river vales. They are mostly mounted melee warriors, and rarely use bows, and their riding skills are only rivaled by the tribe of the steppe. The Wodanings' color is yellow and green, and their spirit animal which they worship over other beasts of the wild is the raven, although wolves are highly valued too. The Wcodanings are closely related to the people of the Forest. The Campsite is called Wodansthal, and it has a few permanent buildings such as the high-end Tavern "The Thrush's Beak", Astaulfsburg, the castle and a shrine, alongside a palisade for the permanent structures. The collection of the permanent structures is called Widarhorn, or the Ram's Horn. Widarhorn somewhat resembles a motte and bailey, but it lacks a moat. The Wodanings generally are not mages, except for the priests and few special units. The Wodaning camp is situated on the very northern edge of the snowy region.
About me: I think this is also important to include:
I've always loved fantasy and history fiction. The thought of living in a more primitive time, not necessarily better time, has always intrigued me. I've roleplayed on a few LotR mod servers in Minecraft before, and Adalwulf used to be the King of Rhovanion on the server of TSA before it was shut down. I've written this lore myself, as I quite enjoy writing. My friends will also be applying soon, and I look forward to play on the server.
Aaand... I am sorry if I got the idea of this section wrong, because I get many things wrong everyday. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading my application for this server!
