Maret Za is an orc who belongs to the clan Lur in Asulon. Maret was welcomed into this world as his kin were fleeing to Asulon on the warships. His surname, Za, means Voice and was awarded to him by his mother due to his vocals prior to birth. His mother, Zula sacrificed her position in the clan to teach him in the ways of a shaman. When he was at the age of 8, he came across a fire spirit in the desert, and received a scar on his chest, which is mother discovered as a sign to teach him how to interact with the spirits. Understanding that the interaction between the spirits and orcs is important, she taught him with discipline. "The spirits are not created to be messed with" is the line Maret always remembers as he continues to study. When he reached the age of 28, his mother died from sickness. After being enraged of his mother's death he isolated himself from the spirit's calling, demanding that they take blame for the death of his mother. For 5 years he ventured off into the searing desert to find a stronger connection with others but found no one. One night he was awoken to the spirit of his mother, who was accompanied by the same fire spirit which marked him. She stated that his life was a gift from that spirit who saved Zula from having a miscarriage. She demanded that he returned, and did not waste tears on her because that is not the orc way. She stated that he is the bridge between the spirits and his tribe, and without more shamans the Lur would lose their connection to their ancestors and these celestial beings. Understanding what he must due, he has began to venture back to his fellow orcs, after years, hoping to reunite the bond between spirits and orcs for the betterment of himself and his clan.
